“Experience matters when protecting your home from the Hill Country’s most persistent pests. Serving the Canyon Lake area since 1996, we provide a 30-year local reputation. We don’t just spray—we build a consistent, high-potency barrier designed to withstand the Texas heat.”

There is a lot of “placebo garbage” floating around the internet when it comes to pest control. After 30 years of treating homes in Canyon Lake and Spring Branch, I’ve heard it all. If you want to protect your home and your family, you need to separate the myths from the reality of the Texas environment.

Myth #1: “My house is clean, so I shouldn’t have bugs.”

The Reality: Outside of German Roaches (the “filth roaches” that thrive on crumbs), most bugs absolutely do not care how clean your house is. A scorpion isn’t looking for a dirty floor; it’s looking for moisture and a way out of the heat. Ants and spiders aren’t judging your housekeeping—they are looking for entry points like weep holes and stucco gaps.

Myth #2: “One spray should last the whole season.”

The Reality: I wish this were true, but physics says otherwise. Even the most expensive products on my truck—like Onslaught FastCap—only have a max effectiveness of 30 to 45 days in the Texas sun. UV rays, heavy rain, and 100-degree heat break down chemicals by design.

Modern products are highly regulated for safety. They aren’t designed to poison the water table for 30 years like the old-school chemicals did. That’s why we call it “Pest Control,” not extermination. We knock the population down, but the barrier requires maintenance to stay effective.

Myth #3: “Bug bombs are the easiest fix.”

The Reality: Total release foggers (bug bombs) might kill a spider or two in a pinch, but they are rarely the answer. When you turn a poison into an airborne mist, it goes into your bloodstream the second you breathe it in. I only use fogging equipment in rare cases, like under a crawlspace for fleas where I can’t reach. For most homes in Copper Ridge or Mystic Shores, sealing entry points and de-cluttering are safer and more effective than “poisoning the area code.”

Myth #4: “The stuff at the store is the same as what the Pros use.”

The Reality: Store-bought products like Home Defense are often “watered down” versions of professional chemicals to make them “idiot-proof.” Manufacturers have to assume the person using them hasn’t been trained, so they lower the concentration to prevent accidental poisoning.

While you can buy professional-grade products, I’ve seen homeowners double or triple the dose thinking “more is better.” This isn’t just dangerous; it’s illegal and can cause significant harm to your family and pets. You aren’t just paying me for the chemical; you’re paying for 30 years of knowing exactly how much to use and where to put it.
